European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association (EDMA)

Established in 1979, EDMA is the trade association that represents the In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) industry in Europe. Membership of EDMA consists of National Associations in European countries and major companies engaged in the research, development, manufacture or distribution of IVD products. EDMA’s profile has consistently increased over the years and the association now represents a total of over 500 companies. The main aim of EDMA is to “make a real difference in health and life quality”.


International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC)

IFCC is an international organisation which represents the clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine fields worldwide. Their mission is to be the “leading organisation” in these fields. The IFCC aims to enhance the level and quality of diagnosis and therapy for patients around the world. The organisation communicates with its many members and the public about their scientific and educational achievements in order to improve knowledge in the fields of diagnosis and laboratory medicine.


The British In Vitro Diagnostics Association (BIVDA)

BIVDA is the “national trade association for companies with major involvement and interest in the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry”. This organisation represents manufacturers and distributors of IVDs in the UK. However, it is not solely for UK companies, all IVD companies are eligible to join BIVDA. BIVDA raises awareness of the clinical and cost utility of diagnostics in providing effective healthcare within the UK. BIVDA also provide a comprehensive range of support services for its members, which now represents over 90% of the industry.


Asia-Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (APFCB)

The APFCB is a federation of 16 national and area associations of clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine in the Asia-Pacific region. The APFCB provides support for its members and actively raises awareness of the IVD industry within the Asia-Pacific region in order to promote more effective healthcare through the use of quality diagnostics.


IVD Australia

IVD Australia represents multinational companies, local distributors and Australian manufacturers of IVDs. IVD Australia was formed in 2009 and remains a not-for-profit organisation. The main aim of IVD Australia is to “promote the safe and effective use of IVDs within the Australia community and to advance the interests of its members”. It is very active in representing the interests of its members to governments and other important institutions within Australia and overseas. IVD Australia will only promote quality in vitro diagnostics.


European Association for Predictive, Preventive and Personalised Medicine (EPMA)

The EPMA Industrial Advisory Board plays a key role in issue-related national and international projects. The main aim of EPMA is to raise awareness of predictive, preventive and personalised medicine throughout all European Union countries. EPMA also provide current and accurate information on predictive, preventive and personalised medicine as well as performing other important tasks such as promoting high quality research and contributing to the creation of guidelines.


American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

The American Association for the Advancement of Science, ”Triple A-S” (AAAS), is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson and professional association.


The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS)

AAPS is a professional, scientific society of more than 13,000 members employed in academia, industry, government and other research institutes worldwide. Founded in 1986, AAPS provides a dynamic international forum for the exchange of knowledge among scientists to enhance their contributions to health. AAPS offers timely scientific programs, on-going education, information resources, and opportunities for networking and professional development.

ASHG, founded in 1948, is a leading professional membership organization for human geneticists in the Americas. American Society for Microbiology (ASM)

The FDA is also responsible for advancing the public health by helping to speed innovations that make medicines and foods more effective, safer, and more affordable; and helping the public get the accurate, science-based information they need to use medicines and foods to improve their health.



GAMBICA is the Trade Association for Instrumentation, Control, Automation and Laboratory Technology in the UK. It has a membership of over 300 companies including the major multinationals in the sector and a significant number of smaller and medium sized companies.


Institute of Environmental Science & Technology (IEST)

The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST), is a not-for-profit association, is a multidisciplinary, international society whose members are contribute to the environmental sciences in the areas of contamination control in electronics manufacturing and pharmaceutical processes; design, test, and evaluation of commercial and military equipment; and product reliability issues associated with commercial and military systems.
